| | geeky | ] | I may buy headphones at some point this year for listening to braindance and field recordings.
fastfinge recommends the top-of-the-line Sennheiser HD 650. The about-$100 version is HD 555.
chryx wants to sell me his Beyerdynamic DT 660 (dunno which year) for about $100.
leftisto recommends Grado SR 325i. The one in my price range is SR 125. Unfortunately, they seem to be supra-aural.
Open or closed? I like the idea of closed, because it will kill the environmental noises like computer fans, but I'm told it can distort some frequencies due to resonance, and open has better sound in that regard. Maybe I can opt for a semi-closed.
Circumaural (around the ear) or supra-aural (sit on top of the ear)? Definitely circumaural. Must be comfy!
Any other expert voices in the headphone shopping research?
The other question I should ask myself is can I get better audio quality from $100 headphones or from $100 speakers? |
